1. Trouser hemming
Hemming shortens the leg to the correct length. For tailored trousers we use a hand-blind stitch that stays invisible from the outside; for jeans and chinos we can either preserve the original hem or finish with a machine stitch.
Most trouser hems are ready within 24–48 hours at our Richmond workshop, and same-day service is often available if you drop off before 11am.
2. Waist adjustments
Waistbands can typically be taken in or let out by up to 5cm (2 inches) without redesigning the trouser. We adjust the centre-back seam to keep pocket placement and belt loops symmetrical.
If you've recently lost or gained weight, a waist alteration is the quickest way to make a favourite pair of trousers wearable again — and considerably cheaper than replacing them.
3. Tapering and slimming
Tapering slims the leg from the knee down for a cleaner, more modern silhouette. It's especially popular on suit trousers and chinos where the original cut is a little wider than you'd like.
Because tapering affects the outseam and inseam, we always recommend a fitting in the workshop so we can pin the exact line you want before cutting.
